Review: No other gods

Christer Åberg reviewing Per-Arne Imsens famous book No other gods.

This review, I believe is important, because you understand how the Roman Catholic Church was formed and the historical development then understand also how the Roman Catholic Church is working and thinking today.

Now finally I have read Per-Arne Imsens acclaimed book No other gods. The book was published in 2017 by the publishing house Pilgrim and have come out in two editions. The title of the book is taken from the first of the ten commandments of God in the Bible. It takes up historically and factually about the Catholic Church.

Thriller

The book is quite thick and I had a hard time getting into it, but after about 150 pages took it off and I discovered how good it is. Then it was like reading it as a real thriller. It is well written and has a real thorough historical review how the Catholic Church grew out of the former Roman Empire.

This review, I believe is important, because you understand how the Roman Catholic Church was formed and the historical development then understand also how the Roman Catholic Church is working and thinking today. When I think of the doctrinal basis.

I think the book is factual written and actually many times, it has an objective description of the Catholic Church. It takes up historical facts and has many references.

The author has done a sterling job to read through everything so he has a solid foundation to stand on. I understand that this research has taken several years.

Pointing to Jesus

Throughout the book, pointing Per-Arne Imsen in Jesus. This becomes very liberating and comfortable. People need Jesus because he is the only one who can save and liberate. It is enough to have a simple faith in Jesus to be saved. Churches - how big they are, can not save.

Per-Arne Imsen is the son of the famous Maranataledaren Arne Imsen , and he describes some of the book what it was like to grow up in the movement and its exuberant life of faith.

The book has been met with criticism from some quarters, but I think you want to better understand the Catholic Church's history and where it stands today, I recommend you to read the book No other gods .

A stream of spiritual power

Sometimes you may think that it is only the Catholic Church that has dominated for long periods in history, and not to other movements have existed. But all the time outside (or even inside) the Catholic Church, there have been revivals of the gifts of the feature in the book of Acts in the Bible. Finally, I would cite a quote from Pentecostal pioneer TB Barratt on page 277 in the Per-Arne Imsens book No other gods:

TB Barratt wrote: "It has from the time of the apostles been a pure stream of spiritual power, than in one direction than in another of the: Christian church, even during its darkest periods and in difficult times of persecution. When the church fell down to the empty form, superstitions, customs and spiritual weakness, it was always a few who kept the fire at the power in some corner of Christendom. they were in general: stamped as 'heretics' and those who gathered around them was called sect like the first Christians (Acts 24: 5-14). There were well often among them, so that was not entirely apostolic, but God saw the sincere and hungry hearts and sent his fire among them. and everywhere, where the fire burned, it turned outward just as among the first Christians in a strong business for Christ through the graces, the Holy Spirit gave them. Nu blir jag nyfiken att läsa den också.
Är intresserad av kyrkohistoria, speciellt under reformationen.
Tipsar om att läsa om Jan Hus, husiterna samt Komenius, Herrnhutarna, John Wesley.
