Does the Bible say that we should fold your arms and close your eyes when we pray?

Or is the most common way that we ask the unbiblical?

Raising hands

When Jesus talks about the tax collector so he lifted not his eyes to heaven when he asked God for mercy and compassion. Why did Jesus detail? Because it used to pray with open eyes turned to the sky!

Let's establish right away:

There is no biblical example that they prayed with folded hands, nor is there any example that they closed their eyes in prayer! So where have you been that you should snap their hands and close your eyes when you pray? Yes, it's not from the Bible!

With open eyes

How did Jesus in the Bible?

John 11:41. Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man lay. And Jesus raised his eyes and said: Father, I thank you that you have heard me.

When Jesus thanked his Father, he lifted his gaze. He prayed with open eyes!

There is one more example of John's Gospel about Jesus bönesätt:

John 17: 1st Then spake Jesus, and lifted his eyes to heaven and said, Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son also may glorify thee:

Jesus raised his eyes toward heaven when he prayed. Thus we see clearly that it is biblical to pray with their eyes open! So why not try to pray on the biblical way? The next time you pray, lift your eyes to the sky! Pray in the way Jesus did!

Jesus always lifted his eyes to heaven, so also the loaves:

Matthew 14:19. Then he commanded the people to sit down on the grass. And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven , and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the people.

Let's see another example.

Luke 18:13. But the tax collector stood far away and would not even raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

When Jesus talks about the tax collector so he lifted not his eyes to heaven when he asked God for mercy and compassion. Why did Jesus detail? Because it used to pray with open eyes turned to the sky!

With raised hands

1 Tim 2: eighth I therefore want men everywhere should pray and lift up holy hands, without wrath and doubt.

Paul want them to pray with lifted hands. He says nothing about clasped. The reason for this is that it vanligate way to pray is with raised hands. But where does the tradition that one should snap their hands? No, it's from the Bible in every case.

When you lift their hands to God opens it up for him in a different way if they would have their hands folded, folded or with hands in his pockets.

Try it yourself and you'll discover for yourself what it feels like.

Notice that they would raise their hands when they pray. "... pray and lift up holy hands ..." In addition, note that they would do so everywhere . So it was a common bönesätt.

Bible Verses

This with raised hands is not a new invention of Paul. It says about it in the Old Testament.

1 Kings 8:54: "When Solomon had finished these words, pray and call upon the Lord, he rose from the altar of the LORD, where he had been on his knees with his hands lifted to the sky."

Psalm 63: 4: "I will bless you as long as I live, in your name I will lift up my hands."

Psalm 141: 2: "Let my prayer valid before you like incense, lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice."

Lamentations 3:41: "Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven!"

Last bible quote, we see that the course will our hearts be there when we lift our hands to God.

The Bible teaches us, then we can lift our hands and eyes to God when we pray to him. It is the biblical way.
