What Jesus wrote in the sand?

You'll find the fascinating answer!

Jesus wrote in the sand.

Bible verse where Jesus wrote in the ground (it is ground, not sand), we find the story of the adulteress threatened with stoning by the Pharisees and scribes.

John 8: 6-8. This they said, tempting him, and have something to accuse him. But Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 When they stood and asked him, he stood up and said: "He who is without sin may cast the first stone at her." 8 Then he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

I was asked once what Jesus wrote in the sand. You'll find the fascinating answer.

Bible verse where Jesus wrote in the ground (it is ground, not sand), we find the story of the adulteress threatened with stoning by the Pharisees and scribes.

Let us read in the whole context of that to understand it better.

John 8: 2-11

Early in the morning he came back to the temple site. All the people gathered around him, and he sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery. They put her in front of their 4 and said, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act, when she committed adultery. 5 In the Law Moses has commanded us to stone such. What do you say?" 6 This they said, tempting him, and have something to accuse him. But Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 When they stood and asked him, he stood up and said: "He who is without sin may cast the first stone at her." 8 Then he stooped down and wrote on the ground.9 When they heard it, they went away, one by one, the elders first, and he was left alone with the woman standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 11 She replied, "No, Lord, no." Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more!"

Jesus demonstrated in word and deed

In this famous Bible section, we usually only emphasized what Jesus says that he who is without sin cast the first stone, and then went from there hit Jesus words because they were not without sin.

But Jesus act of writing two times on the ground with his finger associated with what he says.

This did the Pharisees and scribes. They mistook not Jesus demonstration.

When they heard what Jesus said and saw his demonstration, so they knew exactly what he meant. They could Bible inside and out and knew what it was.

"Those who fall away from me is like a writing in the sand"

In Jeremiah in the Old Testament it is written:

Jeremiah 17:13

LORD, the hope of Israel. Anyone who abandons you will come to naught. Those who fall away from me is like a writing in the sand. They have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living water.

Jesus showed by this act of the Pharisees and the scribes had fallen away and forsaken God.

When Jesus then also said that those who are without sin should cast the first stone they could not do anything other than to release the stones and walk away because Jesus showed by writing on the ground that they had fallen away from God and looked like a writing in the sand.

What happens to the writing which is written in the sand? The blurring of the water and the wind.

Comment by Jeremiah 17:13

The Lord is the hope of Israel

Just as the Lord the hope of Israel, he is your hope. Have you received Jesus, you have a future and a hope. If you have not received Jesus will do it before it's too late.

Anyone who abandons himself will come to naught

Hold on to Jesus, as long as you live. Then you will one day be the end saved when you come home to heaven. But abandoning him, you will be put to shame. And no one wants to be ashamed?

Those who fall away from me is like a writing in the sand.

This is a striking and unbeatable description which Jesus also demonstrated to the Pharisees and scribes. They understood immediately what Jesus wrote in the sand when they threatened to stone the adulteress, because they knew well what is written in Jeremiah 17:13. There are enormous consequences to abandoning the Lord. The writing which is written in the sand will be erased by the wind and the water.

They have forsaken the Lord

Why resembles the one written in the sand? Because they have forsaken the Lord.

The source of living water

Jesus is the water of life. Receive him then the su saved and receive eternal life. Abandon him Pharisees and scribes did. They had forsaken the source of living water according to Jeremiah 17:13, and then had no eternal life.
